The United Kingdom is the sixth largest economy in the world and the third largest in Europe with a nominal GDP of US$ 2945 billion and a GDP per capita of approximately US$ 45000 in 2014. The service sector is definitely the main driving force, accounting for 80% of the national GDP; the industrial sector is in second place (approximately 20%), while agriculture contributes only marginally (less than 1%). As far as the manufacturing sector is concerned, we are currently witnessing a return of British companies that had previously transferred their activities offshore.
Regarding investments, many companies from all around the world invest in England because of the potential that the market offers. The main sectors that stand out for foreign investments include energy, defence, precision engineering, and creative and digital industries (CDI), not to mention the more traditional sectors such as fashion, décor, banking and financial services, and mechanical engineering.
